Seeking Eternal Sunshine in a Mindless Spot

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas try to erase each other from their minds, and it greatly backfires when they realise they don't actually hate each other.

It's Week 3 of the 2 THOUGHTS 2 DEEP mini-arc – and our thoughts are so deep that they are unconscious, as we discuss the 2004 mind-bending Charlie Kaufman written and Michel Gondry directed romantic sci-fi film ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND. The story follows Joel (Jim Carrey in a serious role that proved to people he can actually do serious roles), who tries desperately not to forget Clementine (Kate Winslet at her all-time best), after he decides to erase her from his memory. Why does he do this? Because she did it first. Who doesn't love a bit of spite at the end of a relationship?

Join us, as we try to unravel this twisted tale of a toxic relationship and understand how it's playing with memories actually works. We promised you all at least "one good movie" in 2 Thoughts 2 Deep and this was that "one good movie". Were we right? Does it hold up after all these years?
