No one understands the ending to Trading Places

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas take a trip to Wall Street in New York and witness two men bankrupt two old racist, rich bastards who made a $1 bet to see if they swapped these two guy's lives around if nature or nurture would prevail. At the end of the day, it was just so good to watch two rich guys become broke.

The holidays are finally here, and with our Christmas season this year, we thought we'd give our listeners over at Patreon the opportunity to select the films we'd be talking about, in our new arc, NAUGHTY or NICE. Over the next three weeks, our Patreon backers will select between a Naughty Christmas Movie or a Nice Christmas movie – with Week 1 being between, TRADING PLACES (Naughty) or A CHRISTMAS STORY (Nice).

And of course, you've seen the title of the episode, John Landis' 1983 comedy, TRADING PLACES, won the poll. It's a film where the three main leads, Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, and Jamie Lee Curtis were all out to prove they belonged, and they all deliver! Join us, as we talk the origins of the story, the original ideas for casting, and, of course, the totally unfortunate, and completely unnecessary use of Black Face towards the end of the film. All this, and much more (DCOM kids get gnar, brah), in this special Christmas episode!

"Merry New Year!"
