Is The Shawshank Redemption the GOAT?

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas attempt to break out of prison using a small rock hammer, after seeing Tim Robbins do it in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION.

We've entered the final portion of our BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW arc, the Prison Movie section! And we kick off the festivities with the film that is often debated to be the Greatest Movie of All-Time – Frank Darabont's 1994 prison drama adaption of Stephen King's novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption", starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

You better believe we dip our toes into the murky waters of cinema fans screaming about this movie since it was ranked #1 in the IMDB Top 250 in 2008 – a position it still holds. Is the hype worth it? Does this film hold up? Is it the best prison movie of all-time? Is it the best movie of all-time? Does any of this even matter?
