The Candyman Hypnosis

Our very own Fil is making a movie! The project is called "The Regulars" and follows the lives ushers working at The Prince Charles Cinema : dealing with customers, talking about movies, and having to get along with each other in the weird and wonderful cinema. It's based on real-life experiences and stories from those who work at The PCC and it needs YOU to help make it happen. Fil is seeking funding over at IndieGoGo. There will be prizes to backers, such as merch, tickets to the premiere and even an opportunity to appear in the film. This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas take a trip to Cabrini Green in Chicago to research our thesis on Urban Legends. There, we hear the story of a man with a hook who will pay you a deadly visit, should you utter his name five times in a mirror.

It's Week 4 (our final week) of our Halloween mini-arc – VAMPIRES, WITCHES, AND WEREWOLVES, OH MY – and you listeners chose for us to discuss the 1992 supernatural horror CANDYMAN, written and directed by Bernard Rose and based on the short story The Forbidden, by Clive Barker.

From bees to hypnosis, join us as we learn the depths Virginia Madsen and Tony Todd went through to make this frightening classic work. Full of social commentary and featuring one of the most iconic figures of 90s horror – CANDYMAN begs you to put some respect on his name. Do you dare speak it five times in a mirror?
